I lift up my eyes to the mountains…where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth. Psalm 121:2
Since loosing my bother to suicide there have been many moments when I am weak. Many times I recognize it seems easier to just escape also. Through finding God again, I now know my time here is short and I am asked to persevere. But how? What is it that Jesus Christ has that can give me this strength?
It can be found in his promise.
When I began my journey to live again by finding my higher power, I found Christ. I found that from the Old Testament to the New Testament, God remained the same God. He does not change character, He does not change his plan, He does not break promises. You cannot find a mistake in the Bible. You cannot catch God in a lie or broken promise. It is His living word to guide us. In 66 books, written by 39 different authors, written over 1500 years, in 3 different languages and on 3 different continents, you will not find one broken promise. You will not find one error. That is amazing. That makes reading and learning more about the Bible worth your time.
By knowing God is the great I AM, the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega, I have been able to place my trust in the promise he has made to provide strength to overcome the struggles of the world. That strength is passed to us through his Holy Spirit. When we believe in Jesus Christ and ask him to take control of our mismanaged and broken lives, he immediately gives us access to his Holy Spirit. You are immediately His! He isn’t only available to the perfect people of the world, who act right and do right. He came for those who recognize they fail and recognize they need him to guide their lives for His purpose. Wouldn’t it be nice to give up control of your life knowing your life will in turn be directed by the all powerful, all knowing God? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17 The promise of eternal life in a new heaven and new earth free from sorrow, suffering, fear, insecurity and more than I can even mention here is worth looking into , isn’t it?
By keeping my eyes on Him and His promise, I find his faithfulness to me in the little things each day. Let alone the big things we feel will never come to pass. By keeping my eyes on Him I have begun to look for the promise and pray for the strength. He will not fail you. He is the only one who will never fail you.
Prayers for you today
